Free Business Tool – how to make sure the look and feel of your business works for you and not against you

Find out what  your customer really thinks about your Nail Business

Whether you like it or not, the Nail and Beauty Industry is driven largely by visual appeal. The look and feel of your business is either a roadblock hindering success or an invitation for consumers to come in and do business with you.

You don’t have to spend a fortune on the interior design of your Nail Bar to succeed, in fact, we recommend keeping your costs as low as possible when you setup your business, but, your Nail Bar must be attractive, appealing and comfortable for your target market.

When a customer finds a nail and beauty business unappealing, it is not usually something big that is wrong with the business. It is usually something small that the owner or the staff has overlooked, like dirty hand towels in the bathroom.  The difference is in the details, take care of the little things and the big things will take care of themselves.

The Visual Checklist that you can download below was designed by Magnetic for South African Nail and Beauty Businesses to help business owners fix the look, feel and flow of their business. Regardless of whether you are based at home, in a retail location, renovated house or office block, this tool will help you get an honest, unbiased “snapshot” of where your business stands in the eyes of your female customer.

How it works

Download and print out the assessment tool. Once you have done that, work your way carefully and thoughtfully through the tool before making any improvements or changes to your business. That way you ensure an eye-opening experience – one that gets you motivated to make committed improvements that appeal not to you – but to your customer.

As a business owner, it’s often “hard to read the label when you’re inside the bottle.” In other words, you as the business owner with a “biased perspective” may not be the best judge of the impression your Nail Bar gives.

For the best results, ask at least five of your customers to work through the checklist in addition to yourself. Their individual results, combined with your own, will give you an honest interpretation of what you’re doing right and what can use improvement.

Lastly, always consider your budget before making improvements to your location and prioritize accordingly to make the smartest and most efficient use of your hard earned Rands. Sometimes, minor repairs (i.e. fixing a broken toilet seat) are more important than major changes (new lighting design); likewise, consult your team of customers to have them help you prioritize what’s most important.
